I recently purchased a Chloe Paddington bag and whilst i'm pretty sure its original (it was an eBay purchase) i'm not sure. There seems to be a serial number but its on the tag as opposed to anywhere else.

In the 4th picture, if you notice the tag on the inside that says Chloe, it looks like a flap, and is only stitched on the top. All the Chloe bags I've seen have the tag fully stitched in. Does it have a serial number somewhere on the inside? The serial number would appear as such: XX-XX-XX (where the X's are numbers).

OP, if you are going to get into handbags, I would take a day trip to Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Ave, or Bloomingdales, and look at the purses there to get a feel. There are a lot of guides of popular fakes for each designer, but 90% of the junk I've run into is easy to spot purely on the basis of craftsmanship. Real designer bags worth spending money on have even, hand stitching, their logos aren't glued on or off-center, their name is often imprinted somewhere in metalwork (zipper, hinges, buckles), they don't use low-quality generic zippers. The leather is usually buttery and never squeaky like plastic.
