A Conn 8D with a six digit serial number and no letter prefix is not necessarily an Elkhart 8D. The Conn 8D is a breed apart among double horns. Brilliant, bold sound, awesome response, and great intonation have made the 8D a staple of American orchestras. While any 8D is a good instrument, the Elkhart instruments are legendary. This one was made at the legendary Elkhart factory (serial number Kxx,xxx - see pic). This horn is in terrific playing condition and good cosmetic condition. Original lacquer is 90% or so.
There are minor dents and scars (see pics), but this horn has never been badly damaged. Valves are excellent and tight, and this horn plays great like you'd expect an Elkhart 8D to.
