Try to program the AT89C2051 through serial COM port (the 'hen' timings are nearest to the specs than ones got on parallel port) Here is another programmer for AT89C2051 (among others) done through serial COM port with 'hen and the chicken' The firmware for the 'hen'. The easy downloader v1.1 is working but as you said the one from Sunrom covers a large range of microcontrollers. I can't joined them since I didn't purchased the programmer nor buid it.
