Hi guys, Recently, I have bought a second hand Packard Bell Pulsar 500 off eBay and it came with two of master CD 1, two of master CD 2 and two 3.5' red restore floppy disks. When I try to restore the Packard Bell to its original factory settings, all goes well until I insert the Master CD 1 and it says please wait with a icon animation thing. Seconds after that, the screen just goes black and no matter what you press on the keyboard, nothing will happen. However, The CD drive sounds like it is still active with the CD still spinning. I appreciate any answers on how to fix this problem and restore my machine. Many Thanks, Joel. Sometimes CD's just go bad but both being bad is unlikely.

Is the computer currently working? If so can you validate that the ODD still works by reading and accessing the disk or another disk from within windows? The only other thing that I can think of is try making a copy of the master 1 disk with another computer and try it again. Hi mate thank you so much for the advice I have only got round this tricky one but have encountered the glue parts error (error 5). I have tried formatting the hard drive and labelled it 'HDD' as the solution has worked for other people with this error. But Still no luck.

Do you have an idea? Thanks for the quick replies.

Download free software nexxsys training manual 2017 I can’t think of much else but here goes. 1st some questions.

You stated that you recently got this computer but then you stated that you have tried the disks in the past and successfully installed win 98SE. If you recently installed win 98SE why are you trying to reinstall it? Did you replace any hardware? From what I can find their seems to be two theories on this error one being the HDD not properly prepared the other incorrect CD rom drivers.

Zadachi manevrennij planshet. Do you have another Packard Bell and are possibly mixing up the disks? I believe the floppy’s have the system configuration information and if you are mixing up the floppy’s it will likely error out.

So here some of the things to try if you have not already. Using another computer create a boot disk for win 98 that will allow you to boot into dos. Once in dos run fdisk and delete the partition on the disk and leave it un-partitioned. Reboot and go into the BIOS and set bios defaults and save. Try your install disks.

If that does not work run fdisk again but this time create a partition do not format it. Run the install disks again. If none of that works the only other thing that I can think of doing is installing a fresh copy of win 98SE. To do this you will need to go to Packard bells website and download the drivers. Then get a win 98 install disk or find a 98SE iso file and create one.

Use your win 98 boot disk you can also use a windows ME boot disk run fdisk and partition and format the HDD. Change your directory to the ODD and run “dir /p” the install file should be named setup.exe type setup.exe at the prompt it should install windows 98SE when prompted enter the CD key that you should already have.
